Gavin Grimm is a 23-year-old transgender man and activist within the trans community. In 2015, when he was 14, Grimm found himself at the center of national attention when his high school banned him from the boys bathroom on the basis of being trans. 7 years later he won his case and now spends his time building community wherever he can.

Danielle E. Hartsfield is Associate Professor of Literacy and Elementary Education at the University of North Georgia, where she also serves as Assistant Director of the Honors Program. She earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at Old Dominion University and currently serves as president of the Children’s Literature and Reading Special Interest Group of the International Literacy Association.
